The painting no longer exists. This is what's left.
The original was called TAKE CARE OF YOUR HEART. There was an asterisk. The footnote read: yes, the one that hurts.
He finished it in 2026. Somewhere in the days that followed — he still doesn't know when, still doesn't know why — he painted over it. Not deliberately. One day he was ready to look at it again and it wasn't there. A different canvas. No memory of the decision. No explanation from the hands that made it.
He was heartbroken. He still is, a little. The warning is buried under white gestural marks that cross and cancel where the text used to be. The footnote survived. The instruction didn't.
The title became HEART(S). The parenthetical accounts for everything the painting lost — and for the fact that there is never just one.
These prints are the only record that the original existed.
