Growth continuing on as chaos drips down the side. Acrylic and ballpoint pen on canvas.
The canvas splits without a hard line. On the right, dark florals climb — layered brushwork in deep red, navy, and forest green, built up petal by petal, structured, alive. On the left, thinned red paint runs straight down in long uninterrupted drips, gravity doing the work instead of the hand.
Both things are happening on the same canvas, at the same time. The title asks the question the painting doesn't answer.

An ex-girlfriend called while this was being painted. She was trying to talk her way back in — got cutesy about it, called him "Daddy." He didn't see her. He wrote the word on the canvas instead.
Beautiful woman. Life in shambles. She never made it back into the room. She made it onto the painting.
